My mom threw me out at 18. Came home one day and all my stuff was packed up. She told me I had a week to sleep on the couch while I looked for a place.

Sounds unlovingly to me. I don't understand parents like that, it's like "yeah, we just wanted kids, but we don't care about you as an adult."

It’s more like tough love. A parents job is to prepare you for the real world and turn you into an independent / self sufficient person. But… I was super pissed off at her at the time. Probably didn’t talk to her for 6 months or a year.

I understand what you mean, but I still don't agree with kicking kids out of the house, unless it's a burden on the parents somehow, like financially.

I was 18 when I went to live with my grandparents. I wasn't getting along with my mom or my step dad. I moved out when I was 19 to a house eay out in the country that my family owned.

My brother went to live with grandparents when he was 16. When I was 18 he’s the one who helped pack up my stuff when my mom kicked me out. He then took my room and moved back in with her.

No. Unfortunately she passed away (years later) and she was renting so nobody could live there anymore.
