The Fat Man and the Impending Doom

No guarantee that the dynamite will actually save you as it could only mean killing a man and ending up with his death on your conscience for as long as you are still alive yourselves.
What's to say the dynamite not only kills the fat man but seals you in the process changing your death from drowning to starvation/thirst? Not exactly a winning move for you and your group now, right?
The best thing to do is to try to free him and if that's not possible then turn around and look for another way out. It's very possible for a cave to have more then one way in and out so it would be better to look for a way that saves all that's possible then to choose the path that kills someone and leaves you with possibly no way out.
