What did you do alone as a child that you would never let your kid (if you have/had one) do alone today?

Walk the streets alone, too risky!

Nothing comes to mind. I was always quiet and perfectly content sitting in the corner, playing with toy cars or Lego blocks, for example. Definitely nothing dangerous.

Okay, too weird...I'll probably get kicked off the forum for this. Only a latch-key kid could understand:

To amuse myself between the time I got home from school and the time Mom got home, I'd go up the street, lift the covers off the water meters on the sidewalk & gather black widow egg sacs into a jar with cheesecloth cover lid.
Fascinating!
I would never let a kid of mine do that if I knew about it.

When I was 16, I met and talked to a pedophile at a gym in town who kept begging me to go to the locker room with him to try on a pair of shorts that he had. When I first met him weeks ago, he had asked to become my personal trainer. I really liked him until I found out what he was. I thought I had made a new friend. I found out he was a sex offender because my mom showed me his name on the registry and she told me to avoid him at all costs. After that I was afraid of him and when he wanted me to go off to the locker room I had a strong idea that he was probably going to try and molest me; so I went and told the supervisor that I was scared, so they put me in a room to get me away from him and I called my step father and he came and picked me up. I never went back to that gym.

Paying with matches. :lightbulb:

I ate alone

no child should have to come home from school, be sat in a dark room with food and front of them with the door locked until you'd finished

Hugs all around. Peeps here have been through some stuff!

I'd for sure say walking the streets be it in your neighborhood or elsewhere. I lived in a trailer court/park for a bit during my childhood and would walk alone.
Call 911 and hang up.
oh gosh yeah... me, a few friends, and even cousins did this. we even did it from a frickin pay phone before. we were such idiots as kids at times smh

I never thought of a payphone. No consequences there. When I called 911 and hung up it was from my house. Next thing you know I have the paramedics & police knocking at my door and I was in big trouble!

Eek, that's quite the telling off, I imagine!
