...if I were advising President Obama, I'd tell him that, with the rules in place at present in the Senate, to go ahead and ram the nomination through now rather than waiting until Jan. 2015....
"President Obama has a pretty obvious deadline for nominating a successor to departing Attorney General Eric Holder. If Democrats lose control of the Senate in November, they'll still run things until newly-elected members arrive in January. So just to be safe, if the president wants guaranteed confirmation of a new attorney general, he'll need to pick one soon. That way, even if Republicans win the Senate, and even if Obama's choice is unpopular with the GOP, lame-duck Democrats will still be able to steamroll the opposition and confirm a new Attorney General."

"But it could be very, very ugly."(Washington Examiner)

...given that American politics is a zero-sum game at times, why not go for it now?

Isn't he known for not doing anything, and then changing his mind and doing things much later than he should've? *shrug* All politicians are a joke. Why would this one be any different? xD

Wouldn't surprise me, Dee...but it depends on what they think going's to happen come November. If they suspect they're going to lose the Senate - and that is a possibility - better to go through the nomination fight now rather than later.
