It's become a familiar sight: long queues of eager Apple fans outside stores across the country as a new device launches. This morning those crowds were there to buy the new iPhone 4S.
The first person to buy an iPhone 4S from the Apple Store in London's Covent Garden was Jonas, from Denmark. He told T3's Luke Peters: ââ¬ÅI am so happy, I can't wait to get home to bed - but not before playing with iPhone first.ââ¬Â
The iPhone 4S is already on sale in Australia, Japan, France and Germany, thanks to time differences, and will be available in the United States and Canada later today. Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, is reported to be firstin the queue outside his local Apple store in California.
Announced by Apple last week, the iPhone 4S boasts a faster processor and better camera than the iPhone 4. It also comes with Siri, a voice controlled 'personal assistant' that can set appointments, send messages and answer questions.
At the beginning of the week Apple announced that more than a million people had pre-ordered the iPhone 4S in the seven countries in which it goes on sale today. The new handset will be available in 22 countries by the end of October.
The iPhone 4S comes with three different memory capacities - 16, 32 or 64GB - and is available in black or white. The price of the phone starts at ã499,though it can be found much cheaper when bought with a contract.
