Is Twitter dying?

If you use Twitter, you've probably heard about the chaos it's been having with its new owner. Charging their premium feature to $8/month, firing half of their employees, and some other... chaos. Some Twitter users even planning to move to other platform such as Mastodon (there's another one, but I can't remember the name). What do you think about this? If you use Twitter, do you also plan to use other microblogging platform? Do you think Twitter is dying, or do you think that Elon will make the platform more successful?

I used to use it more often than I do now. I only use it to follow my favorite singers. But then they are on Instagram also, so I may ditch Twitter.

I don't know if it's "dying" per se. Do you mean the company itself in terms of employees to keep it running or popularity? Or both? I use it for just nonsense and will continue to use it because a lot of my favorite artists are on there. Until I figure out where they're going, if they're leaving the platform, I'll still use it.

I doubt the people promising to leave will actually leave. Heck any forum admin has seen their fair share of I am leaving forever posts and seen many of those people never actually go anywhere. I imagine it would be the same with social media as it is with forums. the people proclaiming doom and gloom for Twitter sound an awful lot like the crowd that proclaims and has proclaimed forums are dying for years now and yet here we are on a forum that still exists years after the forums is dying talk started.

Eh, Twitter deserves to die. There are plenty of alternatives, you can't just treat people like garbage and expect them to keep using your service.

It's been going downhill for a while now. Prior to the whole $8 for Twitter Blue, lots of companies stopped advertising on the site which cost Twitter money. Now with the fact that Elon fired a good chunk of their employees, it wouldn't surprise me if the site gets hacked soon.
