Do you still live with your parents, and if so, at what age? I have lived with my parents for 31/32 years of my life and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I don't have the finances to currently live alone, especially considering I'm currently unemployed, but I am looking for a job for the most part. I don't mind living with my parents as long as I have my personal space (my room) to do my own thing and set up the way I like it. People living with their parents at an older age are often seen as losers, but I try not to turn life into a competition like a lot of humans do and just live whatever life is most content to me and those around me.

My entire life. Health reasons for me, but I never had the desire to leave anyway.

Mine is partly due to health reasons too, where if I lived alone they would probably just worsen.

I moved back in with my parents because of my mother, and I don't see it changing for a good while, since I can't afford to move back out and my mother still needs me, so...home it is.

I was still living with my parents when I was 45 as they wouldn't let me leave. To them, I was nothing but an unpaid slave.

I do worry in a sense what will happen when my parents get too old and/or pass. A sad thing to think about, but think it maybe wise to discuss since parents are aging. I think aging parents for sure is the worst fear for many people. I am hoping the house will be paid off or so. I know they have life insurance too so that will maybe help.

This sounds similar to my situation. I'm not sure if I'll ever not live with my parents. I have no desire to live alone, I don't believe in true love all that much to be with an SO, and financially speaking, I just couldn't handle it. I feel like the least experienced adult in the world sometimes, and I'll primarily have to depend on my sibling's help when my parents pass. A parent's passing is devastating when you've bonded all of your life and treated each other well, I don't know what I'll do when it happens.

Self sufficiency should be a goal for everyone out there. In the end, the only person you can truly depend on is yourself.
I'm really at a loss of how to get to that point though, considering all the problems I've had throughout my life.

Maybe enroll in college and get a degree while you still have unlimited free time and a free place to live

Probably a good idea, but I tried it once and failed, but that was primarily due to taking classes that weren't really intended for a front-end web developer, but a back-end web developer. I need a job before I can consider this again, I'm currently unemployed and have been since June. I'm living off the savings from my previous jobs, which are gradually dwindling away. I'd love to be a front-end web developer one day, but it'd probably have to be a remote job since they're hard to come by in the area I live in and remote jobs can be tough to obtain and you never know if you could be dealing with scammers online or not.

I know junior college / community colleges are all free right now here in California. I was thinking of enrolling and getting an AA degree just for the hell of it.

I might not even need a degree, as some jobs start you off as a junior web developer and you build your way up from there. It's hard to find jobs that fit your criteria, as nearly every job requires you to know something you currently don't. But, I'm sure they're bound to be found somewhere out there!

Do web developer jobs come with benefits (health insurance, sick leave, vacation time), pensions / retirement packages?

I only get on my computer for a couple hours in the evenings, I couldn't imagine being on here all day for a job too. I'd probably get really bad migraines and eye issues after a while.
