Which you are totally and completely correct on. I am confused as to how there can even be any debate about this. Gender is literally a term that came into existence to be defined against sex.
He isn’t, but it’s a smart tactic to confuse the stupid.

So anyone who doesn't agree with your narrow-minded opinion on things is stupid? But we're supposed to take your arguments seriously when you offer nothing but sweeping generalizations and pseudoscience? Ok..He isn’t, but it’s a smart tactic to confuse the stupid.
The only area I would disagree with him is in the assertion that they are totally distinct concepts. As I believe that gender and sex both exercise influence on each other. In a real sense they mutually construct each other. The biological and sociocultural do not exist in separate realities after all. Although I suspect this is more a matter of nuance. Sex and gender are different concepts. One relates to sociocultural differences and the other refers to biological differences. Are you arguing that there is a direct relationship between culture and biology? He isn’t, but it’s a smart tactic to confuse the stupid.
She's right there. So anyone who doesn't agree with your narrow-minded opinion on things is stupid? But we're supposed to take your arguments seriously when you offer nothing but sweeping generalizations and pseudoscience? Ok..
And you would be wrong....As 99% of biologists will tell you.
Q: Aren’t sex and gender interchangeable terms?
A: Sex typically refers to anatomy while “gender goes beyond biology,” says Dr. Jason Rafferty, a pediatrician and child psychiatrist at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island, and lead author of the AAP’s transgender policy. Gender identity is more an inner sense of being male, female or somewhere in between — regardless of physical anatomy, he explained. It may be influenced by genetics and other factors, but it’s more about the brain than the sex organs.
And transgender is a term accepted across science and medical groups to mean people whose gender identity doesn’t match what Rafferty calls their “sex assigned at birth.”
Q: How early can people tell if they’re transgender?
A: It’s normal for children to explore in ways that ignore stereotypes of masculinity and femininity. Rafferty says it’s whether those feelings and actions remain consistent over time that tells. Sometimes that happens at a young age, while for others it may be adolescence or beyond. Regardless, the pediatricians’ policy calls for “gender-affirmative” care so that children have a safe, nonjudgmental and supportive avenue to explore their gender questions.
Q: What kind of care might they need?
A: Transgender people of all ages are more likely to be bullied and stigmatized, which can spur anxiety and depression and put them at increased risk for suicide attempts. For children, medicine to suppress puberty may be considered, to buy time as the youth grapples with questions of gender identity.
Q: Can’t a genetic test settle if someone’s male or female?
A: “It’s not like we’re going to find a magic transgender gene,” Rafferty says, noting that a mix of genes, chemicals and other factors contribute but is not well understood.
Nothing's showing for me there, sadly @WebsterOn certain topics, @PGen98 amd @Scarlet Rose, just remember the words of former American President Harry S. Truman....

Here's the quote by Truman...."I don't give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them, and they think it's Hell."Nothing's showing for me there
Appropriate, most definitely! Here's the quote by Truman...."I don't give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them, and they think it's Hell."

Science Says: Sex and gender aren't the same
WASHINGTON (AP) — Anatomy at birth may prompt a check in the "male" or "female" box on the birth certificate — but to doctors and scientists, sex and gender aren't always the same thing.apnews.com

You haven't really addressed my question. I am wanting to know more directly what you are asserting is the relationship between gender and sex. You have said they are the same thing. The problem with this is about the biological differences and gender is about the social and cultural differences. It is a pretty big statement you are making which carries huge implications. In USA red used to be associated with boys and blue was associated with girls, it is now blue associated with boys and pink with girls. This is part of gender. Do you believe their biology changed? If not how can the gender change and not the biology if they are the same thing? Cross culturally different colours are associated with both. Does each culture have different biology? As several people have pointed out to me in my real life and here I’m a bit black and white to everything I believe and how I deal with issues. culture has made this pretty black and white for 7 thousand plus years. It’s until the last decade or two our current culture and society in first world countries has been crumbling. Is it we have it to good and easy in society we’re desperate for something else? Is it the cities have become a growing wasteland for mental illness? Is it that we have had the weakest leadership this planet has ever seen for decades? I’m guessing it’s a bit of all of it.

You do realize that gender dysphoria, trans people and indeed most LGBTQ+ "issues" have been around for as long as humanity itself has, right? The only thing that's changed is people finally having the societal freedom to feel comfortable enough to be open about their authentic selves instead of being forcibly repressed or sent to "conversion therapy." Now the right is getting mad and calling for the old ways, so they don't have to taint their precious eyes with our existence. As several people have pointed out to me in my real life and here I’m a bit black and white to everything I believe and how I deal with issues. culture has made this pretty black and white for 7 thousand plus years. They did it with gay & lesbian people for decades and decades (I came out in July 1993, so I know a bit about the old bigotries) and now they're going after trans people. Its' sick and disgusting; worse, I get it from multiple sides because (a) I used to be a conservative and (b) I'm also a practicing Christian (Seventh-Day Adventist, if you must ask). Now the right is getting mad and calling for the old ways, so they don't have to taint their precious eyes with our existence.
It's definitely sick and disgusting, and the fact it's tolerated by anyone right-leaning is an utter disgrace. No one deserves hatred or abuse for something they can do nothing about. It's horrendous that this STILL carries on.They did it with gay & lesbian people for decades and decades (I came out in July 1993, so I know a bit about the old bigotries) and now they're going after trans people. There's a line of Scripture that comes to mind here; from Gen. 1:28 (ESV), " Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness."It's definitely sick and disgusting, and the fact it's tolerated by anyone right-leaning is an utter disgrace. There's no qualification there, PGen; we're instructed there (and elsewhere) to treat everyone with the respect and dignity due them as human beings, regardless of who or what they are. No exceptions.
