Do you enjoy digging through the Webarchive?

Right?! And while I didn't like this one nearly as much, I always get misty-eyed whenever they touch bygone stuff I miss:

The website design

The media player, too, lol.

;D!

But there was something magical about coming home from a day of extreme boredom, bringing up Terra and getting my 1997 Pentium II to the boiling point by looking up random search terms heard throughout the day all the while MSN Messenger would beep constantly in the background.

Kids these days will never know the absolute shitshow that it was managing 10 windows while the computer slowed down to a crawl.

So true!!! So very true!

Now the closest we get is the TheOldWeb or the Archive to relive our glory days and remind the youths of today what they'll never see. Ahh...the good ole' days.
OMG! I had never heard of TheOldWeb before :O

Ah, well enjoy!! It's a fun toy :)
it is :)

Just out of curiosity... I saw that a lot of old sites aimed at teens had a "Rate This User" option and, I don't know, but I always found that quite odd, and I believe that it could destroy young people's self-esteems when they were at their most vulnerable. I even recall seeing the funniest, most caring people getting downrated to hell for no reason, and even a couple of absolute stunners, too. What do you think?

I agree, I hated it! If I had any say I pushed to get it switched off or, if it was my site, I turned it off. Horrible feature!

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❗

To me it all got grotesque when I found a friend's profile... sweetest, funniest little punk ever. And yet, her rating was pitiful. It made me angry.

Yeah, I hate when that happens, giving someone a bad reputation for no reason whatsoever. It's ridiculous and it's basically bullying!

I was still banging out webpages in notepad for so, so long!!
Woah! Mad respect there... you actually remind me of a guy I used to know, who went by "Nightshade Dragon" and who made a business outta selling websites made on Notepad!

Notepad was the best for me, lol, but eventually you realize you just can't do that and work with more advanced languages or advanced features.

I wish I knew more about that, but best I have done was HTML editing on profiles and sites.

I do remember how NSD's business site had free tutorials on how to pull many of the tricks he sold, which I thought was very neat.

Yeah, I learned A LOT from hacking and slashing my way through code, lol. Script kiddy nonsense, but it worked so well :D
