Have you ever been banned?

I saw this thread title on another forum not long ago and thought that I would steal the idea and use it here. Anyway I have been banned twice and from the same forum. Want to hear about it? O.k. here is the sad tale of my experiences:

It was quite awhile ago when I was still a teenager and was a bit short tempered. I got into it with the admin and called him a "low brow monkey". I got a 1 week suspension for that one.
A year later a woman was bullying a friend of mine and I called her a "cyber slut". For some reason she reported me and out the door I went, this time I got 2 weeks. But... my "cyber slut" comment received 4 likes!

So how about you, ever been banned?

I think I probably have been before, but it was a really long time ago if I was. I have caused quite a bit of drama unintentionally on sites before, but... Considering those situations and how they went, and the fact that it was very clearly not intentional on my part and usually not even my fault (I was just involved directly without wanting to be)... I never got banned for those instances. Others did though. Or I just got blocked and vice versa to save my mind.

Never been banned. Guess I'm too nice. Maybe I should start acting like an ass to see how far I can push the crew here.

Just because you're nice doesn't mean you're safe. Jealousy can lead people to make up anything to get you banned.

I remember being temporarily banned once. I was active on the forum, going there every day, though not posting much. Then one day, I noticed I was temporarily banned.

I was shocked and confused. I reached out to the admin, who told me that someone claimed I used inappropriate language. Yes, I had been banned for saying the word 'fuck," even though I didn't actually say anything. And even if I had, was it really grounds for a ban?

There were no posts from me saying anything, and no way I could have said anything in private, as all messaging was disabled for all members.

The admin unbanned me immediately, but I didn't feel right about it. I don't think he believed the accusations, but since they came from a popular group, he chose to act on them without even verifying the truth himself. I remember one member asking in the forum what the reason was, and when I told him, he laughed and said there were just too many jealous people there. Before I left, the admin even asked me if I could get some information from vBulletin for him because he couldn't, and I could, as I had two licenses at the time. I told him to ask his friend there instead.

After a week, I left and never went back.

Once because I asked account deletion, and once because I started my own place.

The latter is quite a story, since they didn't have the guts to tell me I was banned (and the software doesn't say you're banned, it says your login/password isn't correct and you can't do a password retrieval and neither reregister with the same login name); it took me a while to figure it out. Not fast enough to avoid getting more trouble: the site owner/founder/admin (illegally) obtained my phone number to contact me over WhatsApp and threatened to make my life hell... He withdrew that threat a little later, but his co-founder reported my phone number as a spam number and since I've got people claiming I called them but I never did, so spammers are now using it as fake number for caller Id, I may go and change my phone number soon.
Anyway, during the WhatsApp convo I learned that they banned be out of fear of stealing their members. This is a forum that claimed "people can be part of multiple communities", so... Not putting their actions where their words are. One of the other admins helped me to get some content deleted that I felt was too personal to leave if I wasn't around, and he was super nice, on the other hand. Anyway, keeping that door closed.

^^^This highlights why I am always reticent about my personal info. For example is anyone asks me where I'm from, I'll simply state that I am the Mad Hatter and am from Wonderland.

I've been banned from several forums for various reasons. One simply because they didn't like who and what I am, one because I was affiliated with a different forum, one because I stood up for someone and wouldn't ban them on a different forum from the one I was banned on because they felt he'd done something horrendous but wouldn't offer evidence...and a couple of others for reasons I'm still not sure of, I never even posted on them
