It’s official! Fox is in talks to bring back The X-Files – and David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are set to return too

The X-Files is set for a dramatic comeback as TV bosses scramble to bring back classic cult shows.

The series that established David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as household names is next in line for a small-screen return similar to last year’s resurrection of 24.

Optimism is high among TV insiders who say Anderson, Duchovny and series creator Chris Carter all want to be involved.

‘It’s true that we’ve had some conversations on The X-Files and we are hopeful of being able to bring it back at some point,’ Fox CEO Gary Newman confirmed.

Fellow Fox boss Dana Walden said the schedules of Duchovny, 54, and 46-year-old Anderson are being studied to find a convenient time for them to reprise their 1990s roles as FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

‘Gary and I both worked through the entire run of The X- Files and we’ve maintained good relationships with Chris, David and Gillian,’ said Walden.

‘We’re very hopeful, but it’s hard. The actors are very busy, so it’s just trying to carve out the time.’ Newman said they would bring back TV favourite Prison Break ‘in a heartbeat’ and there has been speculation that Sex And The City could return to the small screen with writer Michael Patrick King and actor John Corbett (who played Aiden) stating a revival would make sense.

oh yeah! :D

If this is true and it goes through, I hope it's wonderful and Chris Carter comes back for it. The advancement of technology now-a-days is a wonderful jumping off point to investigating the world of the paranormal.

Finally she's going to have a decent role. Her role in Johnny English Reborn was stupid.

It's sad they killed off the Lone Gunmen, but there was an article mentioning that they regretted doing it. So maybe they'll bring them back through some paranormal manner. They weren't in the show nearly as much as they should've been.

yeah, it sucks because they did that because of the tv show the lone gunmen, but they canceled it for a dumb reason!

the lone gunmen shot was awesome! especially the pilot!
