If not outright liars, then those that are intellectually dishonest.

As proof, we submit the following.

Nancy Pelosi from a press conference on September 7, 2006:

[E]ven if [Osama bin Laden] is caught tomorrow, it is five years too late. He has done more damage the longer he has been out there. But, in fact, the damage that he has done . . . is done. And even to capture him now I don’t think makes us any safer.

And here’s Nancy Pelosi yesterday:

The death of Osama bin Laden marks the most significant development in our fight against al-Qaida. . . . I salute President Obama, his national security team, Director Panetta, our men and women in the intelligence community and military, and other nations who supported this effort for their leadership in achieving this major accomplishment. . . . [T]he death of Osama bin Laden is historic.

Question: Is there any way to avoid this sort of behavior where our leader's opinions are shaped by poll numbers and which way the political wind is blowing?

I say her different comments has something to do with which party the president belongs to. I am pretty sure she wouldn't be celebrating this accomplishment if Bush or any Republican was the president. It's no different then the Republicans not wanting to give Obama any credit for authorizing the mission that brought him in but would have done so if Bush or any other Republican was the president. I don't even know why that matters as what should matter is that we got him and not who is president when it happens.

Then again, that would just be making sense which we all know is not allowed in the world of politics.

In 2006, she probably thought that we would NEVER catch Osama; therefore, she tried to downplay Osama and his operations by saying the statements she said.

In 2011, Osama was caught beyond all odds, almost a decade later. Now that is very significant. Had we caught him in 2006, it would of been great, but nearly 10 years pass before he is caught, but he was, and that's what is significant.

The US is not much safer at all. I'd say we're actually more at threat for terror attacks due to retaliation of Osama Bin Laden's death, but from a morale standpoint, it is an accomplishment to take out the leader of Al Qaeda. It's more so symbolic than anything. It shows the US and the world that we, the US, can and will find you if you do attack this country, even if it takes 10 years.

Obama didn't get Osama. Obama shouldn't be taking credit for this at all. Blame Bush. Seems like blaming Bush is popular until it is something positive about him. According to multiple news sources, waterboarding led to key details in finding Osama. Obama is against waterboarding. Now, I've picked out the flaw. Have it Obama's way and eliminate waterboarding and perhaps we would of never found Osama. All Obama did was wait 16 hours before giving a delayed response by saying yes, yes the Navy SEALs can do their job.

From what I've seen, the name malfunction that T is all excited about was fairly widespread throughout all media during the first few hours of the event. Some may have been actual slips of the tongue, others may not have been. So it goes.

But a liberal in media would never say anything that is truly despicable, right?

of course right

They are all love and understanding and just want to sing around the campfire with everybody.

MIKE MALLOY: I have heard some commentators talk about the fact that, all the lives that have been lost in this war on terror, and now the summary execution of the person responsible. But as soon as I heard that, I thought, well, bin Laden really didn't have anything to do -- did he? -- with Iraq. And I think his only relationship with Afghanistan was geographical.

But Iraq -- all the death in Iraq was not caused by bin Laden. The death in Iraq was caused by George W. Bush. Five thousand Americans, tens of thousands permanently damaged and shot to pieces, a million Iraqis dead -- that wasn't bin Laden. That was George Bush. So when does Seal Unit 6, or whatever it's called, drop in on George Bush? Bush was responsible for a lot more death, innocent death, than bin Laden. Wasn't he, or am I wrong here?

I'll go back and watch the whole thing.

But the fact remains that others have made a great deal over a bit of parapraxis.

In any case, I don't know if I have ever defended anything Mr. Oreilly has ever said, and no, I don't watch him, or Beck, for that matter.

I feel that the Bush administration caused more avoidable deaths than people that Al Qaeda has killed. The Iraq war is inexcusable and a disgusting slap in the face to humanity. Afghanistan was hardly justified.

Yep, its just how I view things :/

Rather than seeing Al Qaeda as a group that is senselessly attacking the western world for no reason, I see a large faction of fundamentalist Islam and the Jihad the direct result of unnecessary and unwarranted US involvement in the Arab world.

I personally believe it's the fact that we set up the tax structure so the less you make, the more you pay and the more you make, the less you pay in taxes that is the reason for most of the money problems this country is facing plus all the unnecessary troops scattered across the globe. The government refuses to put any taxes on the wealthy because the government is just a puppet of big business which cares little for what happens to the country as they can walk away whether it stands or falls. Too bad the people still think the poor are the enemy not realizing they are the poor. lol

See that's the perception, but we really aren't. We just have an incredibly stupid tax code with an insanely low tax rate on the extreme wealthy.

And such a complicated set of tax laws at all levels (city, state, fed, sales, excise, estate, property, title transfer, etc) that unless you can afford a full time accountant, you end up paying more than you should.

Yup... my parents actually have hired an accountant who has done our taxes for the past several years.. it's nuts.
